about the place

présentation

In Pantin, along the canal, Les Grandes-Serres is a vibrant neighborhood set around a repurposed industrial hall and a tree-filled campus—a cultural hub where creativity, work, and everyday life meet and enrich one another.

Creativity—spanning music, arts, crafts, and fine skills—is the common thread that connects the space and drives its evolution.

People might come for one specific reason, but they stay and return for a thousand more. Between creative energy and an easygoing pace of life, visitors and locals alike shape their own experience, naturally taking part in shaping new ways of living in the city.

What grows here changes every day.

Our Commitments

Connected to the opposite bank by a pedestrian footbridge, a new 83,000-square-meter district is emerging in the heart of Pantin. Facing the water and open to the city, Les Grandes Serres is committed to shaping an inclusive, vibrant neighborhood deeply rooted in its historical heritage.

Industrial Heritage

Originally a spring-manufacturing plant in the late 19th century, the site evolved in the 1940s into a steel-pipe factory: Établissements Pouchard. The business grew, playing a defining role in the industrial identity of the Canal de l’Ourcq. The largest halls, standing 18 meters tall, were built to house the massive overhead cranes used to transport the pipes—these very structures are preserved in the new development.

In 2017, while the main hall was still in use by the Pouchard factory, a transformative transition began. The Diamètre 15 artist collective moved in. For a full year, some fifty artists worked side by side with active factory workers—a rare, formative coexistence.

Les Grandes Serres then accompanied the plant’s final departure, and the site gradually opened to the public. Through exhibitions, concerts, and live events, this once-inaccessible industrial compound took on a new life, driven by creative energy.

Promoting Culture and Emerging Talent

This cultural hub moves to the rhythm of music, contemporary creation, and both traditional crafts and emerging practices. Featuring hybrid-format concerts and exhibitions, Les Grandes Serres offers an open yet discerning program, highlighting creative crossroads and contemporary artistic voices.

A Shared Space, Open to All

This open and accessible neighborhood is a place where cultural offerings, activities, and everyday pleasures come together along the canal in Pantin. Here, everyone is free to shape their own experience, finding their own balance between creative energy and an easygoing pace of life.
